Assailants shot dead driver

OKARA: Unidentified assailants Saturday shot dead a bus driver on the Renala Khurd bypass.

Driver Muhammad Afzal of Sabri Colony was carrying employees of a factory from Kasur to Okara. He halted the bus due to rush near Renala Khurd bypass and the motorcyclist assailants shot him dead after ascertaining his identity. The Renala Khurd city police registered a case.

MOSQUES’ SECURITY: District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Faisal Rana Saturday said security and police guards would remain alert for the protection of people busy in prayers in mosques.

Chairing a meeting of police officials in the Tayyab Saeed Shaheed Police Lines, the DPO stressed discipline and said negligent officials would face the music. He banned leaves of staff.

 

8 Ramazan Bazaars set up: DCO

OKARA: The District Coordination Officer (DCO) Saturday said eight Ramazan Bazaars were set up in the district. Addressing a press conference at his office, the DCO said the people would be provided with subsidized and quality edibles in these bazaars. He said the people now can buy fruit, vegetables, eggs, chicken meat, mutton, beef, flour, sugar, ghee, pulses, cooking oil and other things from the bazaars. He said rate lists would be displayed at prominent places. He said livestock department has also set up its stall to facilitate the visitors. The DCO said inspection teams will check rates, quality and weighing instruments. The bazaars have medical camps and washroom facilities. A complaint cell, a walkthrough gate and parking lot were also established in every bazaar with a focal person. The civil defence staff and the TMA sanitary workers would perform their active duty. Lady police would also perform their duty in the bazaars. The CCTV cameras and loud speakers were also provided for these bazaars.
