Double murder accused shot dead in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: A double murder accused was killed by unidentified people here on Saturday.
M Hanif, a resident of Chak 220 in Jhang Bazaar police limits, was going to fetch drinking water from a village pump when the unidentified assailants shot him dead. According to police, Hanif had allegedly gunned down his wife and her paramour about a year ago.
TWO KILLED ON ROAD: Two people were killed and another injured in two road accidents here on Saturday.
In the first incident, a truck loaded with crushed stones rammed into a toll plaza near Makkoana Bypass on Jaranwala Road. As a result, toll plaza employee Muhammad Shahid was killed on the spot while another employee Azhar Abbas was seriously injured. He was shifted to a hospital. Khurrianwala police have registered a case against the fleeing truck driver.
In the second incident, Abdul Ghaffar, a resident of Pirmahal, with his wife and children was coming to the city when a speeding bus collided with their motorcycle near Korianwala Bridge on Samundri Road. As a result, Abdul Ghaffar was killed on the spot while his wife and children remained safe.
TRAINING: The National Textile University Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) organised a six-day online training workshop for the university employees of BPS-6 to BPS-17.
Speaking on the occasion, NTU Rector Prof Dr Tanveer Hussain highlighted the basic aim and object of holding the workshop. He said that through the workshop we will abreast our employees with the basic spirit and enthusiasm to boldly face the global challenges.
The HEC deputy director (Learning and Innovation) assured that the Higher Education Commission would extend full cooperation to the NTU in equipping its employees to effectively cope with the global challenges. QEC Director Muhammad Nisar Bhatti advised the participants to fully take advantage of the workshop.
BOY DROWNED: A boy, Abdul Mannan, of Mansoorabad drowned in a canal near Kashmir Bridge on Friday evening.
On receiving information of the incident, a rescue team started rescue operation but could not recover the body. The team suspended the operation last night and restarted it on Saturday morning and managed to recover the body. Later, the body was handed over to the family.
