MANSEHRA: Member Provincial Assembly Laiq Mohammad Khan on Sunday said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had approved Rs2 billion development projects, including 100 community centres, for Trghar district.

“The tendering process for the Rs2 billion development projects, including the construction of 100 community centres and the solarisation of 74 mosques, has already been completed,” MPA Laiq Mohammad Khan, who is also the chairman of the district development advisory committee, told reporters in Oghi.

He said that the inauguration of the Haleema Nawagia Road, built at a cost of Rs80 million, had also taken place.

“We are also set to inaugurate road projects throughout the district, connecting it with the Hazara Expressway and the Karakoram Highway, which would bring revolutionary changes to the lives of local residents,” the MPA said.

He said that 100 community centres were being constructed in the district to preserve the integral feature of tribal life.

“This region, once a tribal belt of Mansehra district, was granted the status of a settled district in 2011. Since then, we have been striving to develop roads, healthcare and educational infrastructure,” he added.

Khan said the provincial government had also approved a central bridge over the Indus River to connect the district with Peshawar via Buner. “The project is expected to significantly reduce travel time to Peshawar upon completion,” he went on to add.

Speaking at the event, Naseer Khan, a local elder, emphasised that the district development advisory committee had also approved projects aimed at resolving educational challenges faced by schoolchildren, particularly girls.

He urged the KP government to ensure the timely completion of all ongoing development projects to bring prosperity and progress to the erstwhile tribal district.
