Smuggling of mobile phones worth Rs30m foiled

LAHORE : The Customs Collectorate at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, Saturday foiled 97 high-end mobile phones’ smuggling.

Collector Airports Lahore Tayyeba Kayani led the operation and seized the cell phones worth Rs30 million.

Deputy Collector Mudassar Rafique, Superintendents Shahid and Abdul Rauf, Inspector Malik Yasir, and Sepoy Ali Mukhtar were also part of the team.

Accused M Hassan Saleem and M Arshad arrived from Sharjah on flight PA-413 and in their hand-carry luggage iPhone models (15, 15 Pro, 16) and Samsung Galaxy (S22, S23) were concealed.

Earlier, Tayyeba’ team intercepted smuggled jewelry worth Rs32 million.

A Customs official stated, "This seizure reflects our ongoing commitment to curbing smuggling and safeguarding the national economy. Enhanced vigilance and collaboration remain vital to counter such illicit activities."

Authorities have initiated investigations to identify the smuggling network and any accomplices. Customs reiterated its dedication to preventing illegal trade and upholding Pakistan’s economic interests.
