QUETTA: Iran’s Consul General in Quetta, Hassan Darvish Wand, expressed optimism about achieving the $10 billion bilateral trade target between Pakistan and Iran through mutual cooperation.

He praised the role of the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) in promoting trade relations and congratulated its newly elected office bearers, urging them to continue their efforts in fostering bilateral commerce.

Darvish Wand made these remarks on Saturday during a visit to the QCCI, where he met with its members and officials. QCCI President Muhammad Ayub Mariani, Senior Vice President Haji Akhtar Kakar, and Vice President Engineer Mir Wais Khan Kakar thanked the Consul General and his delegation for their support and briefed them on the challenges impeding trade between the two countries. They presented proposals to address these issues and requested the Consul General’s assistance in conveying their concerns to relevant authorities.

Darvish Wand highlighted the significant increase in trade volume between the two countries in recent years and emphasised the critical role played by QCCI members in achieving this progress. He assured his continued cooperation and resolved to address hurdles obstructing trade growth.

The Consul General noted an ongoing issue with an “I-Form,” which has led to legal action by the chamber, but he expressed confidence that trade activities would remain unaffected.
