PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has reserved its decision on a petition seeking to halt Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) planned protest on November 24. The two-member bench, comprising Justice Arshad Ali and Justice Wiqar Ahmad conducted the proceedings.

Justice Arshad Ali remarked that the public was frustrated with the federal government, and roadblocks caused widespread inconvenience.

The petitioner, represented by a lawyer Jalaluddin, argued that PTI’s protest involved the use of public resources, including participation by police and government employees, which had exacerbated the security concerns.Justice Arshad Ali questioned whether government employees were coerced into participating in the province or they did so voluntarily. The AG informed the court that no instructions had been issued for using official machinery. Justice Arshad Ali raised concerns over road closures during past protests, noting that major highways, including motorways, were blocked for several days. The AG requested the court to direct the federal government to prevent road closures.
