PESHAWAR: Spokesman for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and Adviser to Chief Minister on Information Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif on Friday accused the media of misquoting Bushra Bibi.

The wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder on Thursday released a video message in which she claimed some foreign powers were unhappy with then prime minister Imran Khan over his religious posture of walking barefoot in Madinah.

She had said after Imran Khan returned from the holy city, the then army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa had started receiving calls of disapproval. Her statement caused a stir.

Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif alleged that the media was taking Bushra Bibi’s statement out of context.

He claimed Bushra Bibi never said that General Bajwa was called by Saudi Arabia or Mohammed bin Salman to discuss Shariah law.

“Mohammed bin Salman and Imran Khan have excellent relations, which the federal government is trying to harm,” said Barrister Saif.

He accused the federal government of not caring about the relations between the two Islamic countries and even harming overseas Pakistanis working in Saudi Arabia.

Barrister Saif believed that the purpose of allegedly misrepresenting Bushra Bibi’s statement was to divert attention from the protest, as the federal government was terrified of the protest and would do anything to shift the focus.

The KP government spokesman urged the people not to pay attention to the propaganda of the federal government and prepare for the protest.
