LAHORE : In the light of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s call for a rally in Islamabad, authorities in Lahore have intensified their crackdown on active party workers. Police sources have classified entry and exit points in Shahdara as sensitive, with expectations of container blockades if protests or departures for Islamabad are attempted. Special squads are being deployed at key checkpoints to apprehend individuals involved in the 9 May riots and recent incidents of vandalism.
Ongoing police operations have led to the arrest of over 500 PTI workers. Raids are being conducted in various areas, including Shahdara Town, Badami Bagh, Tajpura, Green Town, and others. Notably, 14 workers were arrested late at night from Township and Green Town. Police continue to target offices, homes, and gathering places to detain suspects.
The authorities remain vigilant, aiming to curb any disruptions and maintain law and order during this critical period.
