Lahore Whites, Peshawar, Sialkot move into triangular phase

LAHORE: Faisalabad, Abbottabad, Sialkot, Bahawalpur and Peshawar won their matches on the last day of the fifth and final round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy cricket tournament.

At the end of the fifth round, the top teams on the points table of the three groups have qualified for the triangular phase which will begin on November 26. These teams are Lahore Whites from Group A (99 points), Peshawar from Group B (89 points) and Sialkot from Group C (90 points).

Faisalabad defeated Islamabad by 247 runs at the National Ground, Islamabad.

Chasing 396 runs, Islamabad were all out for 148 runs. Shahzad Gul and Asad Raza took four wickets each. Asad Raza took eight wickets in the match.

Abbottabad defeated Hyderabad by 249 runs at the Diamond Cricket Ground, Islamabad. Chasing a target of 345 runs, Hyderabad were all out for 95 runs. Aftab Ahmed took 5 wickets for 35 runs.

Earlier, the Abbottabad team was bowled out for 369 runs in the second innings. Shahab Khan remained unbeaten on 61 runs. Shahryar Baloch, who had taken five wickets in the innings the previous day, managed to take eight wickets in the match.

Sialkot defeated Karachi Blues by 8 wickets at Mirpur Stadium, Mirpur. Sialkot achieved the target of 99 runs for the loss of two wickets.

Earlier, Karachi Blues were bowled out for 224 runs in the second innings. Saifullah Bangash was not out after scoring 105 runs. Muhammad Ali took 5 wickets for 89 runs. He took 9 wickets in the match.

Bahawalpur defeated Karachi Whites by 198 runs at the Abbottabad Stadium, Abbottabad.

Chasing a target of 301 runs, Karachi Whites only managed 102 runs. Mehran Sanwal took 5 wickets for 22 runs.

Peshawar won against Rawalpindi by 26 runs at the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi.

Rawalpindi were given a target of 241 runs to win the match, but the entire team was bowled out for 214 runs. Umar Amin scored 65 runs. Niyaz Khan and Moaz Sadaqat took three wickets each.
