ISLAMABAD: After Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), the Pakistan Army and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) government have also expressed reservations about the quality of imported wheat.

Government sources say that the Pak Army and Gilgit-Baltistan government have requested the federal government to provide 100pc local wheat while raising questions about the quality, taste and texture of the imported wheat.

According to government sources, the Federal Ministry of National Food Security, in a recent meeting of ECC with the finance minister in the chair, stated the reservations raised by the Pak Army and Gilgit-Baltistan government about the quality of the wheat imported by the government.

According to sources, in light of the decision of the federal government, PASSCO had made a plan to provide local and imported wheat to the Army and Gilgit-Baltistan. It was estimated to supply 0.175 million tonnes of wheat to the Pakistan Army and 0.3 million tonnes of wheat to Azad Kashmir.
