Two citizens rescued from dacoits

A Kalashnikov and hundreds of rounds of ammunition were recovered while his accomplices managed to escape

LAHORE: Two hostages were rescued from dacoits in a police operation on Thursday after a two-month-long captivity, during which a notorious dacoit Nadir Kosh was also killed.

According to a police statement the two victims Asif and Bilal, were kidnapped on September 26, 2024 after being lured into a honey trap in Sadiqabad. The police team led by DSP Bhong, comprising Incharge CIA Sadiqabad, SHO Bhong and other police personnel located them in the sugar cane fields of the Paka Chandia border area of Sindh.

They were attacked by dacoits and in the exchange of fire Nadir Kosh, a proclaimed offender wanted for multiple heinous crimes was killed while Constable Akbar Gopang was martyred. A Kalashnikov and hundreds of rounds of ammunition were recovered from his possession while his accomplices managed to escape.

Appreciating the successful operation, IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar, commended DPO Rizwan Umar Gondal and the police team. He directed targeted operations to continue against criminals in the riverine areas to ensure the safety of life and property.
