PESHAWAR: Expressing his serious concern over the law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and condemning criminal silence of the provincial government, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has announced to hold an all parties conference in first week of December to discuss the security situation in the province.

An increase in attacks on police, security forces and civilians has been recorded in different parts of the province in the last few weeks, resulting in the loss of several lives. The situation is worse in the southern districts of the province.

“Since I have become the governor I have expressed my concern over the law and order situation in KP. The provincial government instead of addressing the issue is busy in protests and marches towards Islamabad,” said Governor Kundi. He said the provincial government has miserably failed to protect the lives and properties of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The governor said he would meet the political leadership of the province to invite them to the all parties conference at the Governor’s House during the first week of December.

“The political leadership is being invited to get their suggestions as to how to address the law and order situation in KP as well as other issues being faced by the province,” said Faisal Kundi. He informed the Prime Minister of Pakistan and other concerned authorities regarding the security situation in the province.

When asked whether or not Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur would be invited to the APC, the governor said all the central and provincial leadership of the political parties would be invited and he was the provincial president of the PTI.

He said the provincial government had not taken any solid measure to improve law and order but instead remained busy in protests and attacks on Islamabad for the release of their party leader.

“The KP government must realise the gravity of the situation instead of planning to launch a march on Islamabad,” he added.

Faisal Kundi said the police force alone was not well-equipped to maintain law and order in the province and peace can be restored with the support of the army.
