LAHORE: Lahore High Court’s Justice Muhammad Waheed Khan rejected a defence ministry report on a petition, filed by an accused, currently in the military custody, requesting for a meeting with his family and contact with them by telephone.

The court directed the defence ministry to submit report by Dec 12. The petitioner’s lawyer, Barrister Khadija Siddiqui, took the position that the accused Muhammad Farrukh, who is in a military custody at Sialkot Cantt in May-9 cases, was allowed to meet his family after two-and-a-half months and contact them by telephone after one month.

The court should order the parties to ensure that the accused was able to meet and contact his family by phone. The court should order the accused to be removed from solitary confinement, he added.
