Rallies urge early elections for student unions
Students across Karachi staged protests on Thursday, demanding the immediate restoration of student unions and the holding of elections in educational institutions.
The rallies, organised by the IJT, took place at multiple locations, including the University of Karachi, Swedish Institute in Landhi, GCT College in SITE, and both campuses of Urdu University in Gulshan and Abdul Haq.
IJT Nazim Hafiz Abush Siddiqui addressed the protesters, emphasising that the rallies were aimed at advocating for students' right to elect their representatives through student union elections. "The student community demands the immediate restoration of student union elections. If this right was denied, peaceful protests and rallies would continue, culminating in a collective demonstration outside the offices of the Chief Minister of Sindh, the Governor of Sindh, and the Education Minister," Siddiqui stated.
