Similarly, in South District at Boat Basin, Deputy Director Manzoor Sheikh and his team fined four shopkeepers Rs25,000 each and issued warning notices to 12 others during inspections.

Acting on directives from Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab, legal action has been taken against trash-throwers, resulting in fines for shopkeepers, restaurants, and a commercial bank.

Teams led by Managing Director SSWMB Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah are conducting visits, particularly in commercial areas and food streets, while continuing legal action against those responsible for littering.

In District Central, Assistant Director Akash Kumar issued a formal challan to a commercial bank for littering the road outside its premises.

Awareness campaigns are being carried out in all zones, urging businesses to dispose of waste securely in designated bins and refrain from dumping it on streets and drains. Social mobilisers and SSWMB officials visit shops and restaurants in commercial areas and food streets to educate citizens on proper waste disposal practices.

The SSWMB MD emphasized that awareness efforts and legal actions will continue to prevent littering. Citizens are encouraged to report individuals or businesses polluting the city by calling the helpline 1128, which will enable prompt legal action against offenders.

A day earlier, Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab had directed strict legal action against individuals responsible for littering.

Under the leadership of SSWMB MD Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah, teams have been formed to ensure the safe disposal of waste in designated dustbins and prevent waste dumping on streets and in drains.

According to a press statement from the SSWMB, awareness campaigns are being conducted across all zones, focusing on commercial areas and food streets. Social mobilizers and SSWMB officers visit shops and restaurants to educate citizens on proper waste disposal methods.
