LAHORE: Four matches were decided on the third day of the fifth round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy cricket tournament. FATA beat Lahore Blues by 6 wickets with FATA’s fast bowler Afaq Afridi taking career-best 8-57.
Lahore Whites beat Larkana by 8 wickets. Quetta defeated Dera Murad Jamali by an innings and 125 runs. Multan defeated Azad Jammu Kashmir by an innings and 112 runs. At Gohati Cricket Stadium, Swabi, Lahore Blues team was bowled out for 120 runs in the second innings against FATA. Afaq Afridi took 10 wickets in the match.
FATA were given a target of 178 runs to win which they achieved with the loss of 4 wickets. Mohammad Usman stood out with 57 runs not out. Muhammad Abbas took all four wickets that fell. He took 10 wickets in the match.
Larkana team was bowled out for 258 runs in the second innings against Lahore Whites at Murghazar Cricket Ground, Islamabad. Akbarur Rahman scored 59 runs and Mohsin Raza scored 58 runs. Mohammad Salman took 4 wickets. Obaid Shah dismissed three players. He got 11 wickets in the match.
Lahore Whites were given a target of 123 runs to win which they achieved by 2 wickets. Imran Dogar was not out on 78 runs. Sialkot team scored 297 runs against Karachi Blues in their first innings at Mirpur Stadium, Mirpur. Mohammad Waleed scored 75 runs. Tabish Khan took 7 wickets for 76 runs.
Karachi Blues scored 214 runs for 9 wickets in the second innings. Saifullah Bangash is not out on 103 runs. Muhammad Ali and Shoaib Akhtar took four wickets each. Faisalabad team was bowled out for 346 runs in their second innings against Islamabad at National Ground Islamabad. Owais Zafar scored 145 and Mohammad Kashif got out at 98 runs. Musa Khan took 5-68. He had taken 6 wickets in the first innings.
Musa is the highest wicket taker in this tournament so far with 38 wickets. Islamabad got a target of 396 runs to win. At the end of the game they had scored 136 runs for 7 wickets. Ali Taj scored 53 runs.
Karachi Whites have been given a target of 301 runs to win against Bahawalpur at Abbottabad Stadium, Abbottabad. They were 7 runs for no loss at the end of the game. Earlier, Bahawalpur scored 266 runs for 9 wickets in the second innings. Ali Hamza (65), Mohammad Shehryar (53) and Abdali (52) were outstanding.
Azad Jammu and Kashmir lost the match by an innings and 112 runs after being bowled out for 168 runs against Multan in their second innings at the Ashfaq Cricket Ground in Charsadda. Owais Akram scored 74 runs. Mohammad Ismail took 5 wickets for 62 runs.
Abbottabad scored 365 runs for 9 wickets in the second innings against Hyderabad at Diamond Cricket Ground, Islamabad. Mohammad Arif (96), Khayam Khan (63) and Shahab Khan (57 runs not out) stood out. Shehryar Baloch scored 86 runs and took 5 wickets.
The Quetta team got out after scoring 438 runs in the first innings against Dera Murad Jamali at Railway Cricket Ground, Haripur. Bismillah Khan scored 166 runs. Danish Aziz scored 114 runs and took 7 wickets.
Dera Murad Jamali were bowled out for 169 runs in the second innings and lost the match. Daud Khan scored 54 runs. Bakhtiar Shah took four wickets. At Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi, Rawalpindi team was dismissed after scoring 348 runs against Peshawar’s 393 runs. Aqib Shah played an innings of 105 runs. Niaz Khan took four wickets.
The team of Peshawar got out after scoring 195 runs in the second innings. Muaz Sadaqat scored 85 runs. Mehran Mumtaz got 5 wickets for 85 runs. Rawalpindi have got a target of 241 runs to win the match. At the end of the game, they were 19 for 2.
