PESHAWAR: PPC Markhor won the RMI Media Cricket League by defeating PPC Zalmi by six wickets in the final on Thursday.Provincial Minister for Sports Syed Fakhar Jehan was the chief guest of the event, which was organized by the Peshawar Press Club.
DG Sports Abdul Nasir, Peshawar Press Club president Arshad Aziz Malik, Khyber Union of Journalists president Kashifuddin Syed, other prominent personalities and a large number of journalists were present on the occasion.
The final match of the Media Cricket League held in collaboration with RMI and DHA Peshawar saw PPC Zalmi batting first They scored 101 runs for the loss of three wickets in the allotted overs with Hamidullah scoring 41 and Zawar contributing 23 runs as standout batsmen. For PPC Markhor Arshad Yousafzai, Irshad Maidani, and Rizwan Zaman each took one wicket.
In response PPC Markhor successfully chased the target with the loss of four wickets Ajmal’s stellar performance with the bat scoring 49 runs earned him the Man of the Match award. From PPC Zalmi, Ismat Shah, Tayyab and Hamidullah each claimed a wicket.
Addressing the gathering Chief Guest Syed Fakhar Jehan expressed his pleasure in witnessing the active participation of journalists in such events emphasizing the importance of recreational activities for professionals to excel in their respective fields. He highlighted the government’s commitment to reviving sports in the province and announced extensive preparations for the Quaid-e-Azam Games with trials being conducted at various venues.
