Minister, CS lay foundation of Net Zero Energy Building

LAHORE:Provincial Minister for Communications and Works Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharath and Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman laid the foundation stone of the Net Zero Energy Building of the Energy department on Thursday.

The nine-storey building covering an area of seven kanals at College Road Gulberg will be completed in two years. Due to energy efficient and use of environment-friendly materials, the emission of greenhouse gases from the state-of-the-art building will be reduced by 62 percent on average. The building also has a capacity to store up to 15,000 gallons of rainwater. A modern system of heating, ventilation and air conditioning will be installed for minimum use of energy. The chief secretary directed the authorities concerned to complete the project soon. Parliamentary Secretary for Energy Mansoor Azam, Secretaries of Energy, Communications and Works departments were also present on this occasion.

Teachers’ training concludes

Continuous Professional Development Programme (CPD) on ‘Cultivating global citizenship: Empowering teachers to become change agents in Pakistan’ organised by the University of Education in collaboration with the University of Birmingham, UK, has concluded.

The project trained 65 pre-service and in-service teachers from 18 different schools and universities across Lahore, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, values, attitudes, and pedagogical approaches needed to deliver global citizenship education.

In the message of appreciation, Dr Meng Tian (Project Lead, University of Birmingham, UK) and Dr Naima Qureshi (Project co-lead), University of Education, expressed their acknowledgement and admiration for teachers’ efforts and thanked all the participants, teachers and organisers who made this event a success. The Vice Chancellor, University of Education Prof Dr Aqif Anwar Chaudhry has also thanked Dr Meng Tian and all the community partners for their contributions.
