Alhamra hosts cultural event for Sikh yatrees
LAHORE:In celebration of Guru Nanak Dev Ji's 555th anniversary, a grand event was held at Alhamra. The event titled ‘Sanjha Punjab’ featured cultural programmes and traditional performances in honour of the visiting Sikh pilgrims. The event was hosted by Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari, with the participation of Minister for Minority Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora and other prominent government figures.
Azma Bokhari while speaking at the occasion emphasised the historic measures taken this year to welcome Sikh pilgrims. She said Chief Minister of Indian Punjab should take the issue of smog seriously, as it has become a critical problem not only in Pakistan but also in the Punjab region of India.
She noted that the aim of this event was to strengthen ties with Sikh pilgrims and promote cultural harmony between the two nations. Ramesh Singh Arora highlighted the special arrangements made by the Punjab government to ensure that the Sikh pilgrims' visit was comfortable and memorable. During the event, artists performed cultural plays related to the theme of "Sanjha Punjab," which were greatly appreciated by the audience.
DIG inspects security for Sikh yatrees
DIG Operations Muhammad Faisal Kamran visited Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s Samadhi to assess security arrangements for the Sikh yatrees in Lahore for the religious festival. He also inspected security at historical sites, including Lahore Fort, Greater Iqbal Park, Food Street, and Anarkali Bazaar, among other locations. Faisal Kamran met with relevant officers and personnel, instructing them to remain vigilant and take more effective measures in parking areas. He also reviewed the monitoring process through CCTV cameras. The DIG Operations met with the administrative representatives of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s Samadhi and emphasised that the Sikh community visiting Lahore for the religious festival was being provided with comprehensive security.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Sikh yatrees visited the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA). The delegation included Sikh visitors from the USA, Canada, and the UK. Operations Commander Muhammad Shafiq welcomed the delegation and gave them a tour of various departments of the Safe City project. The delegation commended the outstanding security measures at Sikh religious sites.
