Justice Shahzad observed that with support of appellant, 85% power theft was witnessed in his locality
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Wednesday rejected the bail application of a meter supervisor allegedly involved in power theft.
A two-member bench of the apex court — comprising Chief Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed Khan — heard the bail application of meter supervisor Ghulam Mustafa.
Justice Shahzad observed that with the support of the appellant, 85% percent power theft was witnessed in his locality.
The counsel for the accused submitted that his client’s job was not related to power theft adding that he had been behind the bars for six months.
Additional Attorney General Shafqat Abbasi, however, told the court that a Rs6.2 million power theft case had been registered against the accused and pleaded the court to dismiss his bail application.
Meanwhile, the court rejected the bail application of the accused. As per the case, the accused was an employee of Sindh
Electric Supply Company and posted in a place in Hyderabad. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had lodged a case of power theft against the accused.
