FAISALABAD: Police and lawyers clashed on Wednesday during an attempt to arrest PTI workers attending hearings related to the May 9 cases at Faisalabad’s Anti-Terrorism Court.

Police detained four PTI workers from the court premises and transported them in a prisoner van. However, lawyers intervened, securing the release of several other workers outside the premises.

During the hearing, PTI leader Zartaj Gul, accompanied by other local leaders and workers named in the cases, appeared before the court. After the proceedings, Gul left the court under the protection of lawyers. Following her departure, police closed the main gate of the court premises and began arresting workers still inside, triggering protests from PTI-affiliated lawyers. The lawyers attempted to forcibly open the gate, resisting the police action.

As the prisoner van carrying the detained workers prepared to leave, the lawyers blocked the main gate to prevent its departure. However, police managed to clear the way and ensured the van left the premises. Outside the court, police attempted to apprehend additional PTI workers, but many managed to escape. Those detained were later released after persistent resistance and intervention by lawyers.
