Karachi Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Monem Zafar has demanded that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) rectify the results of the recent local government by-polls as per the Form 11 results.

Addressing a press conference held at the JI headquarters, Idara Noor-e-Haq, in connection with the alleged large-scale rigging in the local government by-polls in Karachi that were held on November 14, the JI city emir said the election results of Model Town UC 7 and ward one of Korangi the UC 7 were manipulated.

He urged the ECP to rectify the results of the UC 7 of Model Town and ward one of the UC 7 of Korangi, as per the results of Form 11. He also asked the ECP to withhold the results of Liaquatabad Town UC 7 and other affected union committees.

He said the JI had submitted petitions before the ECP in connection with the two union committees.

He alleged that the Pakistan Peoples Party’s Sindh government with the help of corrupt elements in the administration and the ECP changed and manipulated the results in a shameless manner.

He said that in the block code 420120806 of Liaquatabad, the ECP showed 9,727 voters in spite of the As per the 2023 census, the block code consisted of 1,178 individuals of 195 households, he said, adding that the ECP showed 9,727 voters in a block code that had 1,178 individuals, showing that there were 50 voters in a household.

This is how the mandate was stolen in Karachi, he said, adding that the election commissioners should step down if they were unable to hold fair elections in even just 10 UCs.

He also highlighted the issue of the Medical and Dental College Admissions Test. He said the high court had passed an order on October 26 to conduct a fresh test in four weeks but the date for the fresh test was yet to be announced. He said that instead of taking action against the culprits, the Federal Investigation Agency summoned 150 students and grilled them how they managed to score 190 marks.
