LAHORE : Pakistan Railways CEO Amir Ali Baloch Wednesday said safety of passengers over punctuality in terms of trains’ operations during smog-hit weather was the government's priority.
He said the Pakistan Railways continued its operation while airports and motorways were closed due to adverse weather conditions.
Addressing public queries during an E-Kachahri, the PR CEO said he personally was monitoring trains schedules and efforts were underway to address factors causing trains arrival and departure schedule disruptions.
He said for passengers' convenience, names and contact numbers of train managers would soon be prominently displayed on all trains. The CEO said a plan of adding two to three trains to the system and a new train service with limited stops was under consideration.
He said the ML-1 project would commence within two to three months and a phased restoration of discontinued trains is also in progress.
Regarding regional connectivity, the CEO highlighted that such projects involve investments of billions of dollars. He said work on Thar Coal Project was in progress.
