LAHORE : Following the directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP), Punjab Dr Usman Anwar, the police recovered 1,530 Kalashnikovs, 38,667 pistols, 3,273 guns, 2,867 rifles, 720 revolvers from accused across the province, including Lahore, in eleven months.
According to Punjab Police spokesperson, the police confiscated 126 Kalashnikovs, 8,287 pistols, 572 rifles, 314 shotguns, 126 revolvers and 46,000 bullets from accused in Lahore. The IGP instructed the RPOs and DPOs to submit weekly reports on crackdown on illegal weapons’ recovery to the CPO.
32 detained for defying smog sops
The Punjab Police booked 66 people and arrested 32 on charges of defying smog regulations across the province, including Lahore, during the last 24 hours. According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, over Rs 1.586 million fines were imposed on 687 accused and warnings were issued to 138 individuals. The accused were arrested for setting fire to crops stubble, driving smoke-emitting vehicles, running smoky brick kilns and other violations.
