Imam, Bismillah, Owais crack centuries

LAHORE: Centuries by Imam-ul-Haq of Multan, Bismillah Khan of Quetta and Owais Zafar of Faisalabad were the highlights of the second day of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy fifth round matches on Wednesday.

Muhammad Abbas, Mushtaq Kalhoro, Afaq Afridi and Imran Randhawa stood out with six wickets each for their respective teams.

In response to Larkana’s 202, Lahore Whites were bowled out for 338 runs in their first innings at Murghazar Cricket Ground, Islamabad. Ateeb Ahmed (90), Gohar Hafeez (71) and Muhammad Ahsan (60) were outstanding. Mushtaq Kalhoro took 6 wickets for 103 runs.

Larkana scored 129 runs for 4 wickets in the second innings. Akbarur Rehman is not out on 50 runs.

In response to Faisalabad’s 202 runs, the Islamabad team was bowled out for 153 runs in their first innings at the National Ground Islamabad. Faizan Riaz scored 63 runs. Asad Raza took 4 wickets.

Faisalabad scored 238 runs for 2 wickets in the second innings. Owais Zafar scored 114 runs with 14 fours and 2 sixes and Mohammad Kashif scored 78 runs not out.

Sialkot scored 291 for 7 in their first innings in response to Karachi Blues’ 171 at the Mirpur Stadium in Mirpur.

Mohammad Waleed scored 73 not out and Asher Mehmood 55. Tabish Khan took 4 wickets.

In response to Bahawalpur’s 248, Karachi Whites were bowled out for 214 in their first innings at Abbottabad Stadium, Abbottabad. Abdul Rahman scored 62 runs and Khurram Manzoor scored 53 runs. Imran Randhawa took 6 wickets for 28 runs.

Bahawalpur scored 6 runs for no loss in the second innings.

At the Ashfaq Cricket Ground, Charsadda, Multan declared their first innings at 468/6 in response to Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s 188 runs.

Imam-ul-Haq struck his third century in the tournament, 14th of his first-class career, scoring 184 with 22 fours. His tally has reached 635 runs in this tournament.

Imamul Haq scored 175 runs for the first wicket partnership with Zain Abbas who scored 86 runs. Shiron Siraj made 69. Aqib Liaquat took three wickets.

AJK scored 18 runs for no loss in their second innings.

In reply to Abbottabad’s 290 runs, Hyderabad team was bowled out for 315 runs in their first innings at the Diamond Cricket Ground, Islamabad. Gohar Ali scored 86 runs and Obaidullah scored 55. Khalid Usman took three wickets. Abbottabad scored 38 runs for no loss in the second innings.

In reply to Dera Murad Jamali’s 144 runs, Quetta scored 402 runs for 7 wickets in their first innings at Railway Cricket Ground, Haripur.
