Punjabi language a symbol of love, harmony: PA speaker

LAHORE : Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad attended the 2nd International Punjabi Conference held at the Punjab Institute of Language, Art, and Culture (PILAC) as a chief guest.

On this occasion, he described the Punjabi language as a treasure of cultural heritage and wisdom, stating that it is a symbol of love, unity, and harmony worldwide. In his address, Malik Muhammad Ahmad emphasised that granting members of the Punjab Assembly the right to speak in Punjabi was a historic achievement. He highlighted the importance of connecting the younger generation to their linguistic and cultural roots, stressing that promoting the Punjabi language in educational institutions is the need of the hour.

He stated that Punjabi literature, the poetry of Waris Shah, and the culture of Punjab continue to hold a unique identity globally.

The speaker reiterated that the Punjab Assembly would continue to take all possible measures to promote language and culture, while efforts to grant legal status to Punjabi are also under way. Referring to the presence of guests from India and Canada, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan expressed his gratitude, calling it an honour for Punjab. He concluded by saying that the fragrance of the Punjabi language and culture will always remain embedded in this land.

Iqbal conference concludes

Three-day International Iqbal Conference concluded at the Iqbal Institute Complex here on Tuesday.

The conference aimed to promote Allama Muhammad Iqbal's teachings and foster international relations. Sahibzada Sultan Ahmad Ali, chairman of the Muslim Institute, Islamabad, presided over the closing session while prominent among others were former Senator Waleed Iqbal and Director General of Khana-e-Farhang Iran, Aga Dr Ashgar Masoudi, attended the event. Dr Muhammad Saad, President of ECO Cultural Institute, Tehran, and Dr Abdul Rauf Rafiq, Director of Iqbal Academy, expressed gratitude to participants. Delegates from over 10 countries emphasised the importance of Iqbal’s thought in resolving Muslim world issues and promoting international relations. Recommendations included comparative studies of national poets and Iqbal's philosophy.
