Boy dies, five injured in road crash
LAHORE : An 11-year-old boy died and five members of his family were injured when their motorcycle collided with a tractor-trailer in Defence C, Phase 6, on Sunday night.
According to police, the motorcycle, driven by 38-year-old Afzal Ali, went out of control and rammed into the trailer. The collision resulted in the immediate death of Afzal's 11-year-old son, Naseer Afzal, while his wife, Ramzan Bibi, and their four other children — Haseeb (8), Umm-e-Roman (9), and Umm-e-Hania (4) — sustained serious injuries. All the injured were rushed to General Hospital. Police revealed that Afzal Ali was intoxicated at the time of the accident and was travelling with his entire family on the motorcycle.
Two bike thieves held
Police Response Unit (PRU) arrested two members of a motorcycle thieves gang during patrolling in the Old Anarkali area. According to a Dolphin Squad spokesperson, the PRU team signalled two suspicious motorcycle riders to stop during routine patrols in the area. Instead of complying, the suspects attempted to flee. A swift chase ensued, culminating in their apprehension near Nasser Bagh. The suspects, identified as Zeeshan and Usama, were found in possession of two pistols and a stolen motorcycle.
Meanwhile, Ghaziabad police arrested two members of Shan gang during a targeted operation based on intelligence reports. The suspects, identified as Shan and Shoaib, were apprehended for their involvement in multiple street crimes, including snatching motorcycles and mobile phones at gunpoint in the Ghaziabad area. Cases were registered against the accused, who confessed to their crime.
Two POs arrested
Punjab Police Special Operations Cell and Interpol in a joint operation have arrested two proclaimed offenders (POs) from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Proclaimed offender (PO) Rizwan Shehzad had abducted and murdered a citizen in Sialkot two years ago, and PO Rana Afaq Ali was wanted by police in a robbery case. The POs were brought back to Lahore on Tuesday.
7 die on road in 24 hours
The ESD responded to 1,433 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these accidents, seven people died, whereas 1,529 were injured. Out of these, 699 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 830 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
Man found dead in his house
A 56-year-old man was found dead at his residence in the Samanabad police jurisdiction on Tuesday. The victim was identified as Syed Zia Shah, a resident of Chappar Stop, Samanabad. According to sources, Zia lived alone in his house and had been unwell for some time.
