KARACHI: BYD, a global leader in new energy vehicles (NEVs) and power batteries, celebrated its 30th anniversary with the roll-off of its 10-millionth NEV at its Xiaomo Production Base in the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone, said a press release on Monday.
BYD Chairperson and President Wang Chuanfu reflected on the company’s transformation from a 20-employee startup to a global corporation with nearly one million staff. He highlighted BYD’s focus on technological innovation and shaping the future of mobility.
The company recently entered the Pakistan market, launching two flagship vehicles, ATTO 3 and Seal. With a goal to electrify 50 per cent of local automobile sales by 2030, expanding charging infrastructure and introducing local manufacturing to support a green energy transition.
BYD is the first automaker to achieve the 10-million NEV milestone, completing the first five million in 15 years and the next five million in just 15 months, demonstrating its commitment to innovation. The 10-millionth vehicle, a DENZA Z9, was presented to Feng Ji, founder of Game Science and visionary behind ‘Black Myth: Wukong’.
Wang attributed BYD’s success to a bold vision, relentless execution and an engineering-driven culture. The company also announced plans to invest 100 billion yuan in AI-integrated automotive technologies, ensuring its continued leadership in sustainable development and cutting-edge mobility solutions.
