PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Tuesday approved Bushra Bibi’s request for exemption from court appearance in a protective bail petition and extended her protective bail until December 23.

However, the court warned that if Bushra Bibi, the spouse of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder and former prime minister, did not appear at the next hearing, her exemption would be revoked.

The federal government has also submitted a report to the court regarding the details of cases against her.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has a case against her related to the Toshakhana-II. The hearing of the petition for case details was conducted by a two-member bench comprising Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Justice Wiqar Ahmad.

Lawyer Alam Khan Adeenzai appeared in court on behalf of the petitioner along with the NAB focal person.

Bushra Bibi also filed an exemption request on Tuesday and her lawyer informed the court that she could not appear due to serious health issues. He prayed the court to grant exemption.

Upon this, Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim remarked that the petitioner

must appear at the next hearing, and no further exemption requests will be entertained.

The NAB focal person informed the court that one NAB case pertained to the Toshakhana-II. The court then adjourned the hearing after extending Bushra Bibi’s protective bail until December 23.
