Four killed, four injured in Bannu firing

BANNU: Unidentified gunmen opened fire on a vehicle and killed a tribal elder, a woman, and two others and injured four other persons in Narmikhel area in the district on Tuesday.

Baitullah, a resident of Seentanga Wariki in Janikhel, in injurd condition told the Bakakhel police that he was driving a vehicle towards Bannu. Upon reaching a Rocha Road near Shah Mohammad Kala situated at the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route, he said a group of armed men, who were lying in wait, ambushed and opened fire on them.

He said that all the passengers in the vehicle sustained injuries in the gunfire. The complainant said that Malik Shadikhel, Ajab Khan, Ajmal, and a woman were killed on the spot while a six-year-old Saleem Ahmad, Wali Mohammad’s wife, a seven-year-old Mohammad Yaseen, and he himself sustained bullet injuries.

The motive behind the attack could not be ascertained. The police have registered a case against the unidentified attackers and started an investigation.
