PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has released funds to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers to make arrangements for the protest slated for November 24, sources said on Tuesday.
The sources told the Geo News that the funds were reportedly distributed among party MNAs and MPAs to cover expenses.
The sources said the chief minister approved allocations of funds for party lawmakers and office-bearers to facilitate the protest’s logistical needs. The sources said that each Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) allegedly received Rs300,000, while each Member National Assembly (MNA) received Rs200,000.
It was learnt that some lawmakers, including Atif Khan, Junaid Akbar, and Shakeel Khan, were not given the funds. A few legislators declined to accept the money. The PTI office-bearers at the organizational level were also reportedly given Rs200,000 each to cover travel expenses.
Speaking to Geo News, PTI central spokesperson Sheikh Waqas Akram confirmed that financial resources were being utilised to support the protest. “Ali Amin Gandapur and others are spending from their own pockets to ensure the protest’s success,” he said. “I’ve also announced in my constituency that anyone needing resources for the protest can approach me.”
The funds, according to party sources, were primarily intended to cover transportation and other logistical costs for participants.
