Sights of Pakistani dignitaries being shouted at and abused by disgruntled young people are becoming a common phenomenon within and outside the country. This is reflective of the level of decay our society is facing. The younger generation today consider most of the ruling elite corrupt and insincere. While incidents of public harassment and threatening behaviour are always condemnable, the real threat to our society is the fissure between the ‘haves’ and ‘haves not’, which is reaching toxic levels. It is high time that the people at the helm of affairs understand the need for a social balance and reassurance of rights to all segments of society.
