World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims: Maryam shares grief of families of those who died in accidents

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, in her message on the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, offered her sincere prayers for the forgiveness of all those who were separated due to road accidents.

She added, “I share the grief of families of those who died in accidents. We are improving road safety in Punjab. Construction, repair and maintenance of more than 600 roads across Punjab are going on rapidly to prevent accidents.”

Maryam Nawaz said, “For the first time in Pakistan, ambulance service is being started for the rescue of accident victims on motorways. Drivers’ training programmes are ongoing under the supervision of traffic police experts at different service centers.”

She said, “We are further upgrading Rescue 1122 service for the safety of traffic accident victims. Pakistan’s First Air Ambulance Service is transferring patients in the Golden Hour.”

She highlighted, “We all have to shoulder the responsibility of road safety” and appealed to the people to make it a habit to follow the traffic rules to protect oneself and others.

Meanwhile, CM Maryam Nawaz introduced a historic Rs2 billion package for 11,000 poor women of south Punjab. “Financial independence of rural women of Punjab is among my priorities,” said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz while introducing a remarkable project of giving cows and buffaloes to widows and divorced mothers and sisters of south Punjab.

Rural women of 12 districts can apply for the livestock project. These districts include Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Layyah, Kot Addu, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Vehari, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan.

The chief minister said, “Rural women will get employment opportunities from the livestock project. They will also be able to meet the growing demand of milk and meat by rearing cows and buffaloes of good breed.”

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz paid rich tribute to the security forces for sending 6 Khawarjis to hell, while strongly condemning an attack on the post of security forces in Shah Mardan area of Kalat. She appreciated their great sacrifice for the elimination of terrorism from the country.

She offered sincere condolences and expressed her heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved families. She offered prayers for the speedy recovery of injured youth.
