QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court Bar Association (BHCBA) elections concluded, with the Professional Panel securing 7 out of 10 positions.
Mir Attaullah Lango of the Independent Panel won the presidency with 457 votes.
The polling, held on Saturday at the Balochistan High Court, began at 8:00am and continued uninterrupted until 5:00pm.
Lawyers from across the region actively participated in the voting process.
President Mir Attaullah Lango (Independent Panel) secured 457 votes, Senior Vice President Jamil Bostan 344 votes, Vice President (Quetta) Asmatullah Achakzai 415 votes, Vice President (Zhob) Musa Jan Kakar 438 votes, Vice President (Kalat) Elahi Bakhsh Mengal 358 votes, General Secretary Najeebuddin Agha 403 votes, Joint Secretary Samira Abid 399 votes, Finance Secretary Ayaz Kakar 417 votes, Library Secretary Sinan Hoth 356 votes, and Press Secretary Abdul Qadir 392 votes.
The elections were marked by a strong competition between the panels, with a clear majority achieved by the Professional Panel in most categories.
The newly elected leadership faces the responsibility of advancing the interests of the legal community and upholding the values of justice and rule of law.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Mir Attaullah Lango on his election as President of the Balochistan High Court Bar Association and extended his best wishes to the entire newly elected cabinet.
Shehbaz expressed optimism that the new leadership would work tirelessly to strengthen the legal profession and contribute significantly to the promotion of justice and democracy in the country.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti also congratulated the newly elected president and his team, expressing hope that they would continue their struggle for supremacy of the Constitution and the law.
In his message, Bugti highlighted the essential role of the bar association in ensuring public welfare and delivering justice to the common man.
He assured the provincial government’s full cooperation and support to the association in its endeavors.
