DUKI: The protest initiated by the Truck Transport Union has entered its second week, disrupting coal supplies from Duki, Chamalang, Harnai, and Shahrag to Punjab and other parts of the country.
The strike, which began on November 11, has brought the daily transport of 15,000 tons of coal to a complete halt. The union’s action is in response to the government’s failure to compensate truck owners for vehicles set ablaze during the earlier incidents.
Raza Muhammad Nasir, district president of the Truck Transport Union, stated in a press conference, “We will not allow coal loading until our demands are met. Those who load trucks at their own risk will not be provided with any protection.”
Nasir emphasized that the issue extends beyond Duki and affects the entire coal supply chain in Balochistan. He urged the government to address the union’s demands promptly to resolve the ongoing crisis.
