The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has completed painting work at 25 multi-storey buildings that were in disrepair on major thoroughfares of Karachi.

According to a statement issued by a spokesman for the Sindh chief minister on Sunday, the facelift of the buildings in a poor condition was carried out by the SBCA as part of the CM’s plan to beautify the city.

The spokesman recalled that CM Syed Murad Ali Shah had chaired several meetings on the beautification of Karachi.

He said the CM had directed the SBCA director general, Abdul Rasheed Solangi, to carry out beautification of buildings situated on the main Sharea Faisal till the FTC intersection. The statement quoted the SBCA DG as saying that at present facelift of 14 buildings was being carried out in District Malir while 11 buildings were being beautified in District East.

The SBCA chief mentioned that he had directed officials concerned to complete work to decorate the buildings by November 15.

The statement also quoted the CM as saying that he wanted to see a beautiful Karachi with an increase in its hustle and bustle. The CM said that Karachi should be beautified and renovated in a manner that the foreign visitors would have no choice but to praise the beautification of the city.

He directed officials of the relevant civic and municipal agencies of his government to accelerate the drive to beautify the city.

Accident victims

Meanwhile, in his message on the occasion of World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims that was commemorated on Sunday, the CM said that human life was very precious and one should be very careful while driving.

He appealed to the public to discourage underage driving stating that the parents should take full responsibility in this regard.

He lamented the increase in road traffic accidents and said that the loss of a single human life due to a traffic accident impacted the entire family.

Shah appealed to the people to observe traffic rules. He asked the officials concerned to raise mass awareness about road traffic laws.
