Waste blueprint
Dealing with waste management effectively has become a major priority. The current increase in waste production requires action and cooperation from all stakeholders. Every day, Pakistan generates more than 50,000 tons of waste, with only 40 per cent of it being appropriately managed and disposed of. This highlights the urgent need for sustainable waste management solutions.
I suggest introducing waste collection services that operate from door to door, setting up recycling centres for plastic materials such as paper and glass, encouraging the implementation of composting programmes for waste materials in an effort to enhance sustainability and converting waste to energy. Moreover, stakeholders must uphold regulations regarding waste management and ensure that resources are set aside for the enhancement of infrastructure projects.
