The Sindh High Court (SHC) has stayed the 50 per cent of the appointments in the education department being made through the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) till further orders.
The interim order came on a petition seeking injunction with regard to the appointment process in the education department through the SPSC.
The petitioner had submitted that the SPSC was going to initiate a recruitment process for the appointment against 251 posts in the education department in spite of the fact that 50 percent of the posts had to be filled through promotions.
The counsel submitted that the education department issued an advertisement for 251 posts of grade 16 in college education which was contrary to the relevant rules and the laws.
He requested the high court to stay the process for 50 per cent of recruitment as those vacant posts had to be filled through promotions.
The SHC issued notices to the education department, SPSC and others and called their comments. In the meantime, the high court stayed the appointment process with regard to 50 per cent of recruitment till the next hearing.
