Record 10,000 patients get medicines at doorstep in Punjab

Free home delivery of medicines will be made to more than 10,000 patients across Punjab

LAHORE: According to the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, provision of free medicines to 10,000 patients in 180 days for the first time in history is a record, says health department.

Under CM Punjab’s free medicines home delivery project, provision of medicines to hepatitis and TB patients at their doorstep is ongoing. Free home delivery of medicines will be made to more than 10,000 patients across Punjab.

According to statistics of the Health Department, free medicines have been provided to more than 5,700 hepatitis patients, while more than 4,200 TB patients received medicines at their doorsteps. The Chief Minister said, “The free home delivery project relieved patients from facing inconvenience to frequently visit hospitals. It is also reducing public rush in hospitals. Rendering public service is a manifesto of the PMLN.”

Meanwhile, Maryam congratulated the Sikh community across the globe on the birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji. In her message, she said, “Baba Guru Nanak is a torchbearer of humanity, love and brotherhood. Peaceful societies are built on the basis of tolerance and brotherhood. Baba Guru Nanak exhorted the humanity to share each other’s sorrows and griefs.”

She added, “The minority card will be made functional for destitute minority brothers and sisters of Punjab in December and Rs10,000 will be given every quarter to the impecunious strata of minority brothers and sisters from the card. A minority virtual police station will be established to further ensure protection of minorities.”

She said, “Every citizen should be provided with all the basic facilities and rights irrespective of his/her religion. We have to collectively make our dear holy land an example of peace, harmony and tolerance.
