Two eyewitnesses have identified before a judicial magistrate the prime suspect in a case pertaining to the last month suicide bombing near the Karachi airport that killed two Chinese nationals and a Pakistani citizen, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed on Friday.

It said that a suspect, Javed, alias Sameer, was produced before the judicial magistrate (Malir) for an identification parade. After completing legal formalities, the magistrate lined up the suspect among the dummies and called the eyewitnesses to pick out the suspect. The witnesses rightly identified the suspect and assigned his role in the commission of the offence.

Earlier this week, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) had remanded two suspects, including Javed and his female aide, Gul Nisa, said to be affiliated with the outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), in police custody for 10 days.

The investigation officer informed the judge that during interrogation, Javed disclosed that he had conducted reconnaissance at the site of the blast along with an absconding suspect Danish.

About the female suspect, the IO claimed that she had facilitated suicide bomber Shah Fahad by helping him cross the Hub toll plaza. BLA commanders Bashir Ahmed, alias Bashir Zeb, and Abdul Rehman, alias Rehman Gul, have been named as planners of the suicide attack that took place on October 6.
