Islamabad:British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott hosted the celebrations of King Charles III’s 76th birthday at her residence here on Thursday night, underscoring the strong bond between the UK and Pakistan and lauding the rich heritage and dynamic creativity of the South Asian nation.
She noted that the UK-Pakistan partnership was truly unique, with the strength of the bond rooted in the people. The deep economic ties between the two countries serve as a testament to their close relationship, according to her.
Ms Marriott also emphasised the need to build lasting relationships, celebrate shared heritage, and promote mutual understanding, saying arts, culture, and tourism can foster people-to-people links.
She expressed optimism about stronger relations between the UK and Pakistan in multiple fields. Planning and development minister Prof Ahsan Iqbal, who was present alongside diplomats, parliamentarians, business leaders, and other guests, congratulated the entire UK on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan on King Charles III's birthday and expressed "profound respect and admiration for His Majesty’s unwavering dedication to service and his commitment" to the Commonwealth, including Pakistan.
He said that Pakistan and the United Kingdom had strong and enduring ties of friendship, built on mutual respect, trust, and cooperation. The minister called for greater economic collaboration, trade, and enhanced people-to-people connections to further strengthen bilateral relations.
He acknowledged the significant contributions of the British-Pakistani diaspora and celebrated their success in every aspect of British society. Prof Iqbal also highlighted Pakistan’s unique attributes, including its rich cultural heritage, dynamic entrepreneurial spirit, stunning landscapes, and achievements in science, technology, and the arts. He reaffirmed the country's commitment to collaborating with the UK in addressing global challenges and promoting a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable future for all.
