ISLAMABAD: The war of words and exchange of letters between the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) continues almost on a daily basis and the PSB has expressed its dissatisfaction over the reply received from the Normalization Committee (NC).
“Notably, the PFF Congress meeting notice was issued on 5th November 2024, yet notifications for Provincial Association elections were only issued on 13th November 2024, after sensitization by the PSB. This delay substantiates the validity of our concerns about procedural lapses. Furthermore, the use of the title “president PFF” by yourself (Haroon Malik) conflicts with FIFA’s explicit mandate assigning you the role of chairman NC.”
On the PFF’s autonomy, the PSB letter said that it respects and supports this principle. “However, autonomy entails both rights and responsibilities. As per the IOC’s Olympic Agenda 2020, autonomy must be exercised responsibly, adhering to organizational statutes and mandates. Autonomy does not permit actions that undermine transparency, fairness, or constitutional governance.”
The National Assembly Standing Committee on IPC has scheduled a meeting on 19th November 2024 in Islamabad, inviting the PFF’s NC to present its report on the election process. In light of this, the PSB recommends that you attend the meeting and present your viewpoint regarding concerns of the football community before the parliamentary forum. The PSB will facilitate you with boarding/lodging for this meeting.”
