ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday appealed to the nation to offer Namaz-e-Istisqa (prayers for rain) and pray to Allah Almighty for His mercy in the form of rain.
The prime minister said that the federal and provincial governments should arrange Namaz-e-Istisqa across the country.
In a statement issued by the PM Office Press Wing, the prime minister emphasised that rainfall would improve the environment and can significantly help in mitigating the diseases.
Meanwhile, the prime minister extended his heartfelt congratulations to Dr Navin Ramnoolam on his victory in general elections of Mauritius.
Separately, the prime minister telephoned Minister for Housing and Works Riaz Hussain Pirzada to condole the death of his brother Sajjad Hussain Pirzada.
Meanwhile, Salat-e-Istisqa will be offered in different areas across the country on Friday (today). The Ministry of Religious Affairs on Thursday wrote separately to provincial departments of religious affairs and auqaf and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Home Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan and Chief Commissioner Islamabad to convey directives of the Prime Minister in this connection.
