LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched the Aqua Shrimp Farming Internship Programme for youth in Punjab.
“Practical training in shrimp farming will be given to youth with degrees in fisheries, aquaculture, and zoology,” said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz while launching the ‘Aqua Shrimp Farming Internship Programme’ for the youth in Punjab.
She said, “The young interns will also get a monthly stipend of Rs50,000 for six months. Young zoologists will be trained at the shrimp farm of the fisheries department in Muzaffargarh.”
The chief minister said, “Youngsters can apply for internships online via job portal website.”
She said, “Shrimp farmers should benefit from worldwide demand. More than $1 billion in foreign exchange can be earned through shrimp farming only on one lakh acres.”
Maryam Nawaz said, “Barren and deserted land of South Punjab will be made usable by shrimp farming. To encourage shrimp farming, farmers and investors will be given land, concession and necessary equipment on lease.”
The chief minister said, “Ten to 20 thousand people can get employment opportunities with the promotion of shrimp farming. Youth can gain self-employment and financial independence through shrimp farming.”
