Karachi: The Sindh police chief on Thursday ordered the SSPs concerned to review the measures taken and the deployments made for the security of Chinese nationals, besides ensuring the effectiveness of the security plan and the security clearance of the deployment.
IG Ghulam Nabi Memon said project owners and sponsors should be informed to use the Sindh police’s online verification service for the security clearance of the security guards and staff concerned.
Memon chaired a meeting at the Central Police Office to review the security arrangements made for Chinese nationals working in the province. The meeting was told about the steps taken to implement the decisions taken in the previous meeting.
The Special Protection Unit chief told the meeting about the committee formed to review the security measures of Chinese nationals. He said the Intelligence Bureau and the Special Branch are conducting the security audit of the private security guards engaged to protect Chinese nationals.
He also said project administrators, hosts and sponsors are being obliged to hire the services of former servicemen. The committee has also suggested continuous joint training exercises to deal with emergencies, while a hotline managed by law enforcement agencies has been made available to Chinese nationals, he added.
He further said the security audit of the private security companies concerned, including the project owners and sponsors, has also been advised to strictly implement the security SOP.
IG Memon ordered that all SSPs ensure surprise visits and reviews of various projects related to the security arrangements made for Chinese nationals, briefing the officials deployed for security duties on security issues and measures.
He said that a formal letter containing foolproof security instructions should be issued by all the SSPs, and a report based on the security measures and assessments of Chinese nationals should also be submitted.
