In view of the upcoming monsoon season, the Pakistan Red Crescent (PRC) has stepped up its preparations from district to national level to cope with the challenge.
PRC has prepared a comprehensive plan for thousands of families in case of disaster. In this connection, PRC is also holding meetings with other disaster-related agencies for better coordination and an effective response in case of floods. PRC has recently trained hundreds of volunteers to deal with challenges and has sensitized communities in their respective areas in case of floods. Speaking at a meeting on multi-hazards contingency planning, PRC’s secretary general Dr. Rizwan Naseer said PRC is all set to actively and efficiently respond to monsoon-related disasters to minimise the sufferings of the vulnerable.
Dr. Rizwan said PRC already has the capacity to cater to 36,000 families with food and shelter all over the country, especially in disaster-prone districts.
