DDWPC approves projects to save villages from flood

GUJRANWALAL: The Divisional Development Working Party Committee has approved projects worth Rs 200 million to protect the lands of six villages from flood water.

The meeting of the Divisional Development Working Party Committee was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Syed Naveed Haider Sherazi. Director Development Abdul Rauf briefed about the projects and told that six villages, including Mahmoodpur, located on the left bank of the River Chenab, were facing flood threat while PDMA had proposed to construct roads at six places to prevent erosion, which was also approved by the committee of experts of the Rivers Department. The project would protect thousands of acres of agricultural land and property of more than 6,000 residents of these villages, he added.

Commissioner Syed Naveed Haider Shirazi directed that the tendering process for the project be completed soon and timely construction of the structures and quality of materials must be ensured.

BODY FOUND: The dead body of a man was found near a Nullah at Wazirabad. Some passersby spotted the body and informed the police. The police have sent the body to a hospital for postmortem.
