PHC grants transit bail to minister, others

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday granted transit bail to Minister for Education Faisal Tarakai, Special Assistant Zahid Chanzeb, MPAs Mian Muhammad Umar and Arshad Umarzai, Special Assistant for Industries Abdul Karim and PTI leader Arbab Jandad. Single bench of Justice SM Attique Shah heard their bail petitions. The court directed them to appear before relevant courts within 14 days.

Representing the petitioners, Alam Khan Adenzai informed the court that cases had been filed against his clients in Islamabad and other cities.He said the petitioners intended to appear before the relevant courts, but they feared being arrested.

Seeking relief for them, the lawyer requested the court to grant them transit bail so that they could appear before the courts without the risk of arrest. Arbab Jandad, a former MPA and PTI leader, was also among the petitioners. He was seeking bail as he was scheduled to depart for Umrah later this week.The court accepted the plea, granting transit bail to all petitioners with the directive to appear before the appropriate courts within the two weeks.
