BANNU: The members of Sokri tribes here on Wednesday held a jirga besides continuing their protest against alleged annexation of a piece of land donated (waqaf) for a graveyard.
They also held a meeting with Assistant Commissioner Syed Ibrar Ali Shah at his office to discuss the issue. The disputed land had been donated for a cemetery, mosque, and madrasa, located near the court premises.
Tribal elders, including Malik Mahboob Ali Khan, Malik Naeem Khan, Malik Hazrat Khan, Tahseenullah Khan, Malik Sher Nawaz Khan, Latif Khan, Mehran Khan, and Rehmat Khan attended the jirga.Assistant Commissioner Ibrar Ali Shah informed the elders that officials from the Revenue and Auqaf departments had inspected the site.
