Rawalpindi:In order to ensure transparency and merit in the marking of the 2024 Matric First Annual Exams, Chairman of the Educational Board Muhammad Adnan Khan, upon the recommendation of the Controller of Examinations Tanveer Asghar Awan, has ordered an inquiry into the marking staff following written complaints from students.

A total of 435 marking staff members have been targeted for inquiry. If found guilty of incompetence and negligence, strict disciplinary action will be taken. Chairman Muhammad Adnan Khan and Controller Tanveer Asghar Awan issued a joint statement affirming that any negligence or incompetence in the marking process will not be tolerated. Candidates of the 2024 Matric First Annual Exams raised concerns about the marking staff’s negligence and incompetence during the paper re-checking process, highlighting these issues in written complaints.

Upon receiving these complaints, Controller Tanveer Asghar Awan immediately formed an inquiry committee and sent the matter to Chairman Muhammad Adnan Khan, who took swift action and ordered disciplinary measures against 435 marking staff members, including secrecy officers, head examiners, sub-examiners, assistant to head examiners, special super checkers, board representatives, and data entry operators for the marking centre.

The inquiry committee, led by the Chief Secrecy Officer for Matric, was tasked with completing the investigation and submitting their findings to the chairman's office. The committee's report recommended punishments, which the Chairman approved and ordered immediate enforcement. The penalties include warnings, deduction of allowances, and disqualification from all board duties for periods ranging from one to three years, or even for life, depending on the severity of the errors.
